Anyone can do this – and should. Instead of Google or Yahoo, use Ecosia as your search engine. Today they posted that they have planted 1,000,000 trees in the rain forest. They do this by donating 80% of their revenue to the cause.
The new target, to be reached by 2020 is one billion trees planted. You can read how they plan to adjust their business in order to have a decent chance of achieving this aim. If you want to participate you can download an “ecolink” and “Whenever you buy something through an EcoLink from one of over 10,000 websites, the website will automatically donate a share of your purchase to us – usually between 2 and 10%.”
I have been using Ecosia for some time now, over a year I am sure, and it tells me that I have helped to plant 1,352 trees. And that’s without even moving from the chair.
